Chile miners Pinera
The 33 miners rescued in October from a deposit in northern Chile are upset with the president, Sebastián Piñera, because it promised to guarantee health care for at least six months. “That’s a promise that they feel has been breached,” according to her lawyer reported. They have also sued the Asociación Chilena de Seguridad (ACHS) for his alleged responsibility in the accident which left them trapped for 70 days to 700 meters deep, as reported by one of his lawyers quoted by Efe.
According to the miners, the AChS should monitor and take action to ensure the safety of the San José mine, located in the Atacama desert, explained on Tuesday told Radio Cooperativa attorney Edgardo Reinoso.
ACHS is a private non-profit organization that provides full coverage of claims for accidents.
Four miners lost their licenses
Counsel also pointed out that in late December, the AChS was discharged four of the workers who lost their medical licenses, and salaries were paid for that entity, for missed therapy sessions due to travel abroad .
Those affected are Darío Segovia, Carlos Bugueño, Reygadas and Edison Omar Pena, the latter famous for running inside the mine and participate in the marathon in New York.
Known as shift manager, Luis Urzua, said the treatment was very good physically, but psychologically it was not up to it. “We want to be locked up. Spent 70 days underground and now they want to have in our homes,” he told the same station.
